FAQs
What will the first therapy session look like?
For the first session, you can expect to receive a warm welcome and a smile awaiting you when you arrive. I fully understand the mix of emotions that may be flowing through your mind as you anticipate what may be in store. This is completely normal and my role is to make you feel comfortable. The first session is often about getting to know you, what you hope to gain from your therapy sessions as well as identifying your main presenting issues. We will then look at ways that we can work together to support you on your journey. I adopt a number of different approaches and use my expertise to tailor therapeutic approaches to your needs. My main aim is to hold space to support you to learn, grow, heal and recover. .
How long does counselling last?
The number of sessions varies from person to person and we can agree on a set number or leave it open-ended. I am committed to working alongside you to keep the sessions to as few as possible whilst also being available for as long as you need. I usually suggest that we meet for six weekly sessions initially, and together we then review our sessions together to check whether you are getting what you need.
Where are you located?
My private practice is located in Bohola, Co.Mayo and I also offer counselling online, specialising in supporting expats abroad, particularly in Japan, Singapore, Australia, Thailand, Hong Kong and Malaysia however, I can connect to most places globally. Please get in touch to see if I can offer support in the country that you’re based.
